Bill Gates argues with the healthcare system
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, billionaire Bill Gates presented his latest venture – AI technology for midwives and teachers. One of the advancements is an AI-controlled ultrasound that he describes as ”superhumanly good at making assessments”. This technology, which can assess the condition of the foetus and placenta, could revolutionise healthcare in poorer countries. Bill Gates is also investing in AI to create individually tailored education plans, a step towards levelling out educational disparities around the world.

AI AS A PROPAGANDA TOOL FOR TERRORISTS
A new study by the organisation Tech Against Terrorism reveals how terrorists and violent extremists are using generative AI to create and spread propaganda. The study, which examined 5,000 AI-generated articles, shows that AI primarily amplifies existing methods of spreading messages, used by both Islamist and far-right groups. For example, a pro-IS group has published a guide for
using ChatGPT safely, while a far-right chat channel spreads racist and Nazi images created with AI. The use of AI for these purposes is, according to Tech Against Terrorism, still
in an experimental phase – but the risk of future systematic use of AI in terrorist propaganda cannot be ruled out.

Like a car without brakes
AI is currently like a car with no brakes, driven by someone without a licence on a road with no road signs. This is according to Virginia Dignum, Sweden's sole representative on the UN's advisory body for AI issues. She wants to highlight AI's dual nature; on the one hand, a revolutionary force that can change the world for the better, and on the other, a potential danger if not governed correctly. With examples such as AI-controlled drones and innovative
In healthcare applications, she calls for global cooperation to secure AI's positive future and avoid misuse.
