Domestic News Kungens Kurva

Already today, Kungens Kurva south of Stockholm is Scandinavia's largest retail area. Through an investment of billions, the area will now be developed for the future – a project expected to be completed in 2033.

In Kungens Kurva, you'll find the world's first and second-largest Ikea. Here, for example, the world's first self-service warehouse was introduced, which is now an obvious part of Ikea's concept. The expansion that has now begun covers 28,000 square metres dedicated to experiences in food and beauty, as well as a merger and a shared entrance to the Ikea store.
The investments exceed two billion Swedish kronor over ten years. And the first to open will be Matvärlden, a supermarket with food from all over the world, which opens at the end of 2024. The store covers 7,000 square metres of retail space with a focus on food experience. In addition to the supermarket itself, there will be a restaurant, a bakery, and a food hall.
The first sod was turned for the expansion in June, which aims to transform the shopping centre into a meeting place for the whole family and a destination offering everything for the home.
Ingka Centres has initiated the biggest change to Kungens Kurva since IKEA opened in 1965. Over ten years, we will create a completely new meeting place and destination for everything related to food, fashion, and home furnishings, says Yvonne Arentoft, Meeting Place Manager at Kungens Kurva Shopping Centre. The area will then be expanded north and west by 21,000 square metres, including a merger with the IKEA store, which will mean a new shared entrance and a wider range of restaurants, fashion, beauty, services, and much more.
– We see incredible potential for Kungens Kurva to be a leading player in food experiences, family activities, and traditional shopping within fashion, interior design, and much more, concludes Yvonne Arentoft.
