The energy optimization potential of lighting is often underestimated, despite the fact that it accounts for up to
30 percent of commercial properties' electricity consumption. LED lighting combined with smart control systems makes it possible to reduce lighting costs by up to 90 percent.
Smart lighting systems are the future and the intelligent solutions are already here.

Many companies, regions and property owners are switching to LED luminaires but are missing the opportunity
to install intelligent lighting control, which means they are missing out on a huge energy saving potential. Installing LED lighting can halve the electricity consumption of lighting. By adding smart control functions, a saving potential of another 40 percent is added,
says Robert Blohm, owner of Trebor Group, which develops programmable, intelligent and energy-efficient lighting solutions for commercial properties.
INVESTMENT THAT MAKES A REAL DIFFERENCE
Although the energy optimization potential of lighting has long been overlooked or underestimated, the trend has reversed in recent years.
– Awareness of the potential to optimize lighting based on business needs while minimizing energy consumption has increased among companies, property owners and public actors. This type of investment makes a real difference. One of our customers, Region Västerbotten, conducted measurements before and after the installation of LED lighting with smart control. The investments resulted in
total cost savings of over 90 percent, says Robert Blohm. Trebor Group's proprietary control system is based on an open standard that gives the customer the ability to control lighting schedules, presence control and brightness. With the system, each individual light source can be programmed individually, regardless of whether it concerns a few properties or an extensive property portfolio of tens of thousands of square meters. The property manager can adjust the light levels in an entire property with a few simple button presses.
REPAYMENT PERIOD OF LESS THAN ONE YEAR
Trebor's open platform is based on the international standard DALI, Digital Addressable Lighting Interface. It gives customers the flexibility and freedom to use sensors, luminaires and pushbuttons from any manufacturer that follows the DALI standard.
– Our smart platform is cost-effective and is also characterized by a payback period of less than a year, which is hard to beat in the context of energy efficiency. All data from a property's lighting system is logged, which gives our customers the right conditions to continuously analyze and control their lighting, for example based on movement patterns in the property. The reports from the system provide data on precise energy consumption at the luminaire level, which is also a requirement in the upcoming EPBD directive (Energy
Performance of Buildings Directive), says Robert Blohm.
TAKE CONTROL AND ACT PROACTIVELY
He has noted a clear change in how lighting is increasingly being adapted based on how and when commercial premises are used.
“Ten years ago, the light in a corridor, for example, was often on all day long, but recently there has been increased awareness of the energy-saving potential of presence-controlled lighting. It is about adapting the lighting based on how people move around and use the premises,” says Robert Blohm.
– Smart lighting control provides control over the entire facility, generates energy reports and provides the conditions to act proactively. For example, the system indicates directly whether a luminaire needs to be replaced. Our solution gives the customer the opportunity to choose for themselves and easily and smoothly gain control over and fully utilize the energy saving potential of the lighting, says Robert Blohm.
