Marievik, situated by Årsta Bay, and on the opposite side of Hornstull in Södermalm, is a
area where a comprehensive urban development project is now taking place. The aim is to create a vibrant district
around the clock. The core of the project is a hotel with 180 rooms where the international meets the local.
To create this destination hotel, which will be located in the heart of Marievik, AMF Fastigheter has called in the French star architect Manuelle Gautrand.
– Marievik has enormous potential and it is a joy to be able to contribute to its development. Our project is intended to symbolise a revival of the area. The concept is simple and minimalist, yet at the same time plays with volumes as a tribute to the postmodern architecture in the area. We are also creating green spaces, such as gardens and terraces, to bring the building to life, she says. Paris-based architect Manuelle Gautrand has a successful career both in France and internationally. The hotel in Marievik will be her first building in Sweden. For this, BSK Arkitekter is partnering with Manuelle Gautrand, and together they will realise the plan. The process of finding the right operator to run the hotel will now begin, with plans to commence in the spring.

Hereafter, the hotel construction is planned to take place between 2026 and 2028. The development of the future Marievik is already underway, with the aim of creating a dynamic district where working life, quality of life, and recreation meet the waterfront. Last summer, the food and entertainment venture Plåtparken was inaugurated.
And this summer, Stockholm's first and largest quay bath opens here. In the long term, the district will offer new workplaces, restaurants, a cultural scene, and several art projects. The development in Marievik is driven by an exploratory view of sustainability – ecological, social, and cultural. To create a vibrant and inclusive place, AMF Fastigheter has involved companies and visitors to gain insights into their needs and drivers, insights that have resulted in a number of urban development principles to ensure that Marievik becomes a place that inspires and promotes creativity, quality of life, and human encounters.
