Ahead of the general election in September 2026, the Swedish government is increasing its preparedness against digital influence. A key element is strengthening citizens' understanding of AI. The Media Authority has been tasked with integrating AI into its work on media and information literacy. It is not enough to be able to detect a deepfake. The bigger challenge is how
AI can amplify existing messages, demonstrating how automated accounts gradually shift opinion and how generated text makes campaign material sound like everyday conversation.
